Hydrogen chloride gas is a colorless gas, easily soluble in water (1:500), and its aqueous solution is a colorless and transparent liquid. Hydrogen chloride smokes in the air, has a pungent smell, and tastes sour. It is freely miscible with water and ethanol, and soluble in benzene. Strongly acidic. It can work with many metals and metal oxides, can neutralize with alkali, and has no effect on non-metals such as phosphorus and sulfur. Relative density (d154) 1.20 (39.11%), 1.15 (29.57%), 1.10 (20%), 1.05 (10.17%). The median lethal concentration (rat, inhalation) is 0.3124%/h.

Storage requirements: Precautions for storage of Hydrogen chloride gas cylinders
1. The warehouse for storing hydrogen chloride gas cylinders should be cool, ventilated and dry, avoid direct sunlight, no trenches, dark passages, and keep away from open fire heat sources; it should not be mixed with active metal powders, alkalis, flammable mixed storage with combustibles.
2. The gas cylinder shall not be close to the fire source, shall not be exposed to sunlight, and the distance from the open flame shall not be less than 10 meters, and the gas cylinder shall not be hit.
3. The cylinder body and cylinder valve are strictly prohibited from contaminating oil and other pollutants.
4. Cylinders should be placed vertically, with a protective cap for the bottle valve, which should be properly fixed to prevent tipping;
5. Users are not allowed to replace valves and repair cylinders and cylinder valves by themselves.
